Arbutus Folk School

Date: Apr 28 - Apr 29, 2023
Location(s):
Join Arbutus Folk School and fiber artists Wendy Clark & Liz Frey to follow wool from sheep to shawl! Attendees will be invited to touch and feel real fleece from a sheep, and then observe Wendy as she cards the wool to untangle the many fine fibers. After carding, she will use a spinning wheel to convert the wool into yarn. Watch her do it expertly, then try your hand at it, too!
Once Wendy has created the yarn, Liz will weave it on the loom to create lengths of fabric that began on the sheep and are now ready to be worn.
This is a fun, free, and hands-on demonstration, held twice during Arts Walk weekend: 6:30-8:30pm on Friday and 2-4pm on Saturday. Drop in, or stay from start to finish.
