1:30-3pm Saturday: Grow with Us, a Seed Swap with Haki Farmers Collective. Bring your seeds and take home something special to grow this season. This is an opportunity to learn how Haki is working in our community to bring a regional equitable food access that promotes marginalized small-scale farmers and brings locally grown healthy diaspora produce to local markets. Learn more about Haki at https://hakifarmers.org/
Saturday 7pm: Afrobeat/Afrohouse Dance Workshop!
Mercy is a local artist and an Afro-house dance/artist who blends Afrobeat, Afrohouse, dancehall, and Kizomba dance styles, which bring the diaspora vibrant and energetic dances from Africa. The dances blend traditional African movements with modern urban styles, with a combination of body isolations, intricate footwork, and rhythmic expression that tell a story. The dance workshop is great for anyone; no dance experience needed.
Dance Party to follow (8pm): Join the Dance hall after the Afrobeat/Afrohouse dance hall workshop and finish with a dance hall featuring local Afro-Artists DJs and featuring local Afrohouse band, Mazigazi, an Afrohouse electro band that fuses diaspora sounds to bring an energetic dance experience to the floor.
