Cooper will be presenting an interactive sound-soup mix of procedural music, human-interest field recording documentation, and binaural spatial audio. This project contains interviews, sound portraits, and field recordings of Willapa Valley, where Cooper now resides. The project aims to distill and cohere as much happiness, history, and real-feel into a layered, messy, and pleasant sound tableau. Reactive digital art made of a collage of the recorded subjects highlights the sound to help make discreet all the different parts. Pressing keys on an embedded keyboard will activate different memories, sounds, places and thoughts; due to the scale of the project, listeners will be able to explore at their own pace.
My journey began in the mid-1970s, evolving from traditional art making to innovative sound manipulation with portable reel-to-reel machines and rudimentary synthesizers.
My exploration extended into the realm of subliminal audio, where I discovered its subtle power to influence and engage listeners on a deeper level.
Now, my passion lies in exploring healing frequencies and the therapeutic power of sound, both mental and physical. I blend repurposed vintage technology with circuit board electronics to create thought-provoking environments filled with tones, drones, and healing frequencies.
Through my work, I aim to connect with others and delve into the profound impact of sound on the human experience.
As a neurodivergent individual, I harness my ability for alternative thinking and push the boundaries of creativity and innovation in the realm of sound art
