Jennifer Todd, "GenX Blood Quantum, 1977", oil paint, "This piece is 1 ina series I have created in response to society's attempt at my erasure It is the result of a liftetime of struggle with identity, with the eventual acceptance that I exist as a beautiful and valid Indigenous woman. I am a result of gernertions of historical trauma, modern microagreessions, the love of my culture and my family. In this series, as with much of my art, I am fascinated with the process of controlled randomness. I have used water-soluble oil to place and remove pigment in a release absorbd with natural fibers. I often use shapes and patterns that not toward traditional salish wool weaving. | Gretchen Newman, silversmithing & stonework, "My jewelry style is eclectic, a little Steam Punk, and always very personal as my pieces are unique, one-of-a-kind works of art. I like to combine stones with a certain something unexplainable, and build a piece from there with texture, movement, and functional shapes that speak to people in magical ways. Locally made in Olympia, but will transport you into another world! I have been a silversmith for over 30 years, learning the craft while living in Chile in the 1990’s. “OyArtesania” is my handmade jewelry and lapidary art. Many of the stones I incorporate in my work are hand cut and polished myself. I enjoy working with unique and varied, colorful, semi-precious stones, and making them into intarsia or inlay. I work mostly with fine and sterling silver, but do love the look of mixed metals, and a variety of natural stones – many are from the Pacific Northwest – always ethically sourced. I am excited to use recycled materials and collected or found objects when that magic happens.", Instagram: @olyartesania.
