TMMS Students & Ryker Black
Thurgood Marshall Middle School students use a dove as a symbol of love, unity, and peace. Each feather is created individually, representing the unique perspective, voice, and identity of every person. Together, these feathers form a vibrant whole, celebrating self-acceptance and respect for others.
The dove takes flight through learning and communication, showing how sharing ideas and
listening to one another helps us grow stronger as a community. Words woven into the work
reflect growth, connection, and understanding—reminding us that we rise higher when we learn
and fly together.
Taking flight in love and diversity, this piece honors the freedom to be ourselves. Love becomes
the source of strength, creativity, and belonging—lifting us upward and allowing everyone’s
individuality to shine while building unity through compassion and care for one another.
